Sir Knights,
The Exemplification at St. Rita’s Church in Harahan on Saturday,
February 27th welcomed the addition of 115 Sir Knights including six
from our Assembly. Over 5700 Sir Knights are now actively promoting the
Patriotic Degree in Louisiana. The last two Exemplifications have
increased our Assembly’s membership by 15 Sir Knights. Kudos to our
Membership Chairman, Sir Knight E. J. Hebert.
The Fourth Degree Biannual Convention will be April 9-11, 2010 in Baton
Rouge. I will attend, and Sir Knight Larry Fertitta has been elected as
a Delegate from Deacon James Seghers Assembly.
Sir Knights Pat Wilkerson, Al Janusa and Dick Cleveland are bird dogging
ticket sales for the raffle of the 42” LCD television. The drawing is
March 19th. Sir Knights, please contribute to this worthy cause. We need
funds to support vocations and our other charities. If you need
additional tickets, please call Pat Wilkerson, or pick up tickets at the
weekly Fish Fries.
The election of officers for 2010-2011 is scheduled for the May, 2010
meeting. If you are interested in serving, please contact me, or one of
our Trustees, Sir Knights Jay Helluin, Phil Hoz or Larry
Fertitta. The nominating committee will introduce a slate of officer
candidates at the April meeting. Additional candidates will be accepted
at the May meeting. The newly elected officers will preside over the
July, 2010 meeting. The Installation Banquet is tentatively scheduled
for Tuesday, June 29, 2010 following the 6:30 pm Mass at Our Lady of the
Lake Church.
Sir Knight Jack Kern, Patriotic Committee Chairman, is working with me
to foster a Patriotic Speakers Bureau. Sir Knights will talk to the OLL
school children about the Knights of Columbus and their life
experiences. Sir Knights will serve as role models in the classroom.
Our youth will face a myriad of complex challenges as they grow up in
today’s world. As Knights, we can share with the children our belief in
God, our love for America and our support for our priests and our
Catholic faith. Our talk will always follow with a prayer. Details will
follow. Your thoughts and suggestions are always welcome.
Our Assembly is blessed with members not only from Our Lady of the Lake
Parish, but also, Most Holy Trinity and St. Peter’s. Our Assembly’s
challenge is to effectively serve, whenever called upon, the three
church communities. This extends to Color Corps call outs, support for
fund raisers and other church related activities. Deacon James Seghers
Assembly has a respected legacy of service. As our Assembly continues
to grow in membership, and as we continue to respond to three church
communities, the requests for call outs and other services will
logically multiply. To meet the ever increasing requests , we must
continue to bring members into the Fourth Degree. After all, our
manpower is limited and regretfully, aging. And, most importantly, we
must be willing to listen carefully as to how we can truly help
others. I will continue to encourage this discussion in our future
meetings.
In closing, special thanks to Sir Knight Jack Kern for a delicious deer
meat jambalaya. Sir Knight Cleve Fair will prepare the meal for the
April 6th meeting, and judging by the menu, the food will be
unbelievable. Dinner at 6:30pm. Rosary at 7:15pm. Meeting starts at
7:40pm. Please attend as the election of officers will be on the agenda.
Thank all of you for your help and support. Special thanks to our
Pastor, Father John, and to Father Joe their blessings at our Fish
Fries. Please keep Father John’s Mother in your prayers.
VIVAT JESUS!

COLOR CORP COMMANDERS REPORT
Wesley Russell 674-3965
russellwesley@bellsouth.net
Brother Sir
Knights,
Fr. John
has not contacted me for Holy Week, especially Holy Thursday. Be
prepared because the Color Corp ALWAYS is expected to stand guard
over the Blessed Sacrament during the Exposition in the Chotin Center,
until midnight. We take part in the Mass, and process out of the church
into the Chotin Center.
The only open request for Color Corp/Color Guard is for First Communion
at all three Masses, Saturday, May 1, - 9AM, 11AM, and 1PM. Pizza will
be available for lunch; this will be a long day. WE WILL NEED ALL THE
HELP POSSIBLE!
Please consider
purchasing Regalia; we need you, especially considering we cover three
Parishes: St. Peters, Holy Trinity, and OLL. We work together and
support each other. It is a true privilege to have the phenomenal
support we do from each of these three Pastors. Too few Pastors feel
the same way towards the Knights as these Priests do. I have heard some
really sad experiences. Call me with any questions!
VIVAT JESUS!

Since the Bi-annual meeting is in April 2010 our quota of $360.00, which

Ducote. I would like to thank everyone who made this possible. We have a
GREAT Assembly and one, which is very generous. Once again I want to
thank each and everyone who participated in this program. Yours for the
greater glory of God.

Sir Knights,
WHO DAT!
NOW THE WORLD KNOWS
AIN’T NOBODY GONE BEAT DEM SAINTS
Well that is in the
History books so we look forward what is coming, EASTER, THE
RESURRECTION OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST. Only too many people even realize
what means to them and the whole world. We live in America, the
greatest Nation in the world, and we take THAT for granted, we just KNOW
that what we have will not be taken away from us. The same thing with
our Religion and respect for God and the wonders of this earth He has
given to us. We feel He will not take them away from us regardless of
what we do, and just why should He not? WE go to Church on Sunday and
sometimes even on Holy Days of Obligation, which should be enough. Or so
we think. How many of us go to the Church but DO NOT ATTEND MASS? How
many, at the end of Mass, beat the Celebrant out of the Church? And be
careful in the parking lot and the street after Mass lets out. You’ll
get run down if you are not quick on your feet.
And these are the very ones who not fifteen minutes ago “received
Holy Communion”. Where are they going that is so urgent that they are
in such an all fired hurry? Maybe they should attend another Mass and
not be in such a rush. Just once it would be wonderful to see everyone
remain in his or her pew until the Celebrant was out of the building. I
don’t think I have THAT MUCH time left. When I was a kid, centuries ago,
NO ONE left his or her pew or the Church before the Celebrant was off of
the Altar. Those were the days, I think everything has changed too much
too quickly. It might not be a bad idea to bring back some of those
wonderful old ceremonies.
Let us KEEP CHRIST in our hearts throughout every year. Let’s bring HIM
back into our daily lives. HE is our salvation! Pray the Holy Rosary
at least once a day. To Jesus through Mary!
VIVAT JESUS!

K of C BENEFITS
SK Len Hebert 624-3047/Cell 985-290-8279
BEARLEN@MSN.COM
My Brother Knights,
one of the many benefits you have as a member of The Knights of Columbus
is the Orders exclusive life insurance program. There are a number of
other benefits available to you as a member of The Knights of Columbus.
The participation in the Life Insurance, and other, programs is strictly
volunteer, and only available to K of C members and their immediate
families.
Brother Knight, if you are sincerely interested in learning more
about all the benefits available to you give me a call. I’ll be happy to
visit with you and you wife and bring you up to date on your benefits. I
assure there will be no high pressure for you to participate in
anything. It’s strictly up to you what you want to do. Give me a call,
let me show you some of the benefits you have as Knight of Columbus.
Vivat Jesus!
Fraternally,
Len
